Canon R5/R6 Flash Exposure Simulation Explanation & Shortcut

2 min read

Many of you have asked about what in the world is going on with Exposure Preview once we connect a speed light to a Canon R6 or R5 (third party flash and other triggers will do the same). No, your camera is not broken, it is behaving the way it is designed for strobe/studio photography. This explains what is going on and the shortcut work around to "force" exposure preview back on.

Bonus: The length of this even preview effect can be adjusted with your "metering timer" in your menu. Special thanks to Rafael for his feedback on this!
