More Ways to Use Saturation Mapping (plus Free Macros!)
2 min read
Here, we show four ways to create different saturation maps and then a simple example of how they may be used with blend modes. They can, of course, also be used to create masks to constrain other adjustments.
The formulae used in Procedural Texture (see previous video on how to do this) are:
1. max(R,G,B)-min(R,G,B)
2. (max(R,G,B)-min(R,G,B))/max(R,G,B)
3. (max(R,G,B)-min(R,G,B))/(1-min(R,G,B))
4. max((max(R,G,B)-min(R,G,B))/max(R,G,B),(max(R,G,B)-min(R,G,B))/(1-min(R,G,B)))
How to use these is described in the previous video: http://changingminds.org/disciplines/photography/affinity_photo/youtube_videos/785_saturation_selection_and_edit.htm
The free macros to do these are in the Mono Maps version 2: http://changingminds.org/disciplines/photography/affinity_photo/resources/daves_mono_maps.htm
